Sometimes it was frothy and underdeveloped, as well as over-familiar, but you can’t help smile when Cusack and Lane are lighting up the screen. The story was very nicely done, if a little predictable in terms of plotting, and a little devoid of humour. The direction was good, if rather amateurish in some scenes, but I have seen worse. Craig Armstrong’s score is very fitting with the pacing of the film, but I personally think he’s done better. Overall, a sweet and well-played film, if a little predictable. Must Love Dogs is a familiar yet enjoyable romantic comedy that should keep you entertained for a while.

The movie IS somewhat clichéd but the dogs are very cute as are the kids . The sisters are more realistric – mine could be just as mean under the guise of honesty and just as meddling. Christopher Plummer as the Dad was a shock – but Stockard Channing plays the girlfriend very well – mature aged vanity and all. “Fit, fun doggy mama to a friendly, outgoing 11-month pup with TONS of energy. Would love to meet some single guys with dogs…seems like I’m the only dog owner in my area who isn’t coupled up…I love hip hop and live for beach days.
When I decided to take my 5 mile run to the treadmill one day, I decided to check out an audio book online from my local library, to hopefully break the monotony of a treadmill workout. I chose this book because I remembered thinking the movie trailers looked cute and it seemed an easy enough “read” that if I occassionally drifted off mentally while running, I wouldn’t miss much. This book accompanied me for most of my runs over the past week. I really thought that I would love the book since I loved the movie which is odd. I usually love the book more so than the movie…so, now I am sitting here feeling weird about the whole thing. I read this book because I love the movie and really didn’t even know there was a book.
Feel-good, funny story featuring the delightful Hurlihy family of characters. I’m so glad Cook decided to extend this into a series and am looking forward to the fourth installment. How she does it, I don’t know, but Claire Cook has once again crafted a winner. Book 3 of her wildly popular MUST LOVE DOGS series is an addictive read. I love Sarah Hurlihy and her delightfully flawed family, and though this book can easily be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend starting at the beginning and reading the series in order.
